Do you appreciate cachaça?
Try out Bar do Arnesto

Have a look at the wide variety of cachaças
The Bar do Arnesto honors sambistas from the 60s, since its entire decor is inspired by Samba.
You can choose among 504 different brands of cachaça coming from 18 Brazilian states. Beer is served in bottle (600ml) and they have a special cooling system that maintains the temperature at five degrees Celsius without freezing it. It's worth a visit!

On the menu, try the coxinha with bechamel sauce (R$ 19 - 10 units) or bolinho de costela (rib cake) with BBQ sauce (R$ 19 - 6 units). But the best advice is the feijoada meal served every Saturday (R$ 36.90, from 1 pm till 6:30 pm).

The bar Pé pra Fora is a good option to spend a Saturday afternoon

This bar carries one of the most traditional characteristics of a Brazilian "Boteco": tables on the street. Actually, the tables are not on the street, but are on the footpath. You can stay there for hours drinking, appreciating an authentic feijoada or even trying some picanhas on the grill.

I've already had the chance to spend a Saturday afternoon last summer at the Pé pra Fora. The mood is very good, the bar is located very near to the Vila Madalena Subway Station and if you decide to go there, life will be easy. My personal advice goes to "Filé aperitivo com Catupiry" (around R$ 55). It comes on a hot grill that stays over the table. Put it together with cold beer and you'll feel the beat.

Deep Bar is a very welcoming pub in Sao Paulo

Oktoberfest 2012 at Deep Bar

There is a neighborhood in Sao Paulo called Barra Funda, one of the possible translations could be "Deep Bar" and this is exactly the name of a very good pub in São Paulo.

Located in a residential region of the city, this pub is close to a subway station and also to several nightclubs. Ricardo and his son Fernando have plenty of experience running bars and botecos in Sao Paulo. Fernando -- who is graduated in Tourism and Hospitality Management --, had the chance to stay abroad for a while and became an expert in European Pubs. After visiting a variety of pubs, when he arrived back in Sao Paulo, dad and son got together and decided to apply a little bit of Pub's style on what they know best: "Boteco".

Pub's front door
The "Deep Bar" has a German approach but it's service has a very Boteco Paulista style. They are very good at making you feel at home. I had the chance to visit the bar with a friend of mine (who usually goes there) and I could see a scene that later I found out is one of the Pub's characteristics. From the moment this friend of mine crossed the front door till he arrived on the counter, his favorite pint was ready for a sip. Fernando is proud to say that they know which beer every single client prefers. You can order a Vier Würstchen if you came from Germany or even a traditional Fish and Chips while you appreciate your drink. We "deeply" recommend this pub!

The Willi Willie has a bar on the ground floor, with wooden tables and televisions showing music videos. The archery area is separated from the bar by a glass wall, and there are instructors teaching beginners how to play the sport.

The first floor has a stage for live performances, and the second floor is a lounge with couches and a terrace. Live bands take turns playing classic rock, pop-rock and blues. Syndikat is a great place to enjoy some Jazz

Amoung all the options São Paulo offers to listen some great sound, there is a astonishing pub called Syndikat. It's located close to the Paulista Avenue and receive plenty of great musicians. Jazz is the music style played on the stage and is very easy to feel at home inside the pub. That's because, it's located in a average two store house addressed in single block street.

Once you decide to check out my advice, observe the mood coming along when you step on the street. It's unique location brings an interesting calm feeling wrestling with a strong curiosity about what is happening beyond the entrance door. The staff is kind and there is a counter to get beer and drinks. Sofas and benches surround the people on the way to the stage located downstairs. The house brings musicians from Tuesday to Saturday.

Syndikat is very near O'Malley's Irish pub so, you can have a beer during the happy hour and head to the enjoy some Jazz afterwards. Have fun!

JA 367, more Jazz inside Sao Paulo

If you are walking during the day and you pass in front the number 367 on the Rua Joaquim Antunes (on the block between Rua Pinheiros and the Avenue Rebouças) you won't notice anything. At this time, the address is an office. At night, however, what once was the garage and garden of this old house becomes the bar JA 367. You enter from the side and a red carpet leads you to the pub. There you'll find a nice lounge with couches and armchairs that once belonged to the Hotel Ca'd'Oro. In this space both parties, with the sound of DJ and intimate jazz, R & B and sou concert happenl. At the time of drinking choose the long neck beers, including Eisenbahn, Devassa and Stella Artois. Nice place to be in Sao Paulo.
