Inspired by one of the greates passion of every Brazilian, the new hostel Gol Backpackers could not be missing in our best accomodation list. Located in the heart of the city, Gol Backpackers is an excellent starting point for you to enjoy the best of Sao Paulo. Of course they also have a great bar, for people like us, usually staying in backpackers when travelling, it is important to know that your hostel as a friendly place to have a cold beer after a long day of walking and visiting.

New hostel in Sao Paulo: Olah Hostel

This is really a new entry in the hostel scenario of São Paulo. This is good because it means tourists are finally seeing the city as interesting to know and not only a place where to make a connection for other destinations. The Olah Hostel open last month, October 2009, and its goal is of course the one of welcoming all travelers, providing a relaxing environment, giving the opportunity to all the guests to fraternize, to exchange experiences and to have lots of fun.

The position of this hostel is of course well chosen because Vila Mariana is a really cool suburb, full of nice place to go at night and pretty safe, besides the metro station Ana Rosa is just few minutes walking. One plus is of course the garden, really nice to chat with friends or eat a meal after cooking in the well furnished kitchen. As all the other hostels we already wrote about, even Olah Hostel staff will be really happy to help the guests getting to know Sao Paulo and to give precious information.

Casa Club Hostel Bar, a great place to stay!

Casa Club Hostel Bar is located in the heart of Vila Madalena. It was born from the idea of a group of friends and former students of USP Ricardo Ferreira, Paulo Zaine and Savio Henrique. The location is great (close to the bars, easy access to buses and taxis, supermarkets, bakeries and restaurants) and the place is brand new.

The bar was open first but now the hostel is working as well and since we think the offer of good hostel in Sao Paulo is not that big, this could be a great suggestion. The low cost rooms attracts young people who seek cultural tourism. The owners will give you tips about the city that just a local could know. This is a good way to make tourists stay longer in the city, which is also Inside Sao Paulo's mission!

Don't forget that is a bar too, so you can even go just for a drink and found yourself into a very cosmopolitan ambient!

The Best Hostel in Brazil: Vila Madalena Hostel

I love Sao Paulo but there is one thing that could be improved and it's the offer of good Hostels or Guesthouses. In fact the city has a lot of good Hotels but not many of them. Maybe because the plenty of business events/tourism and not so much back packing tourists, but I think this can be an explication as well as a consequence.

Young people love cosmopolitan cities like Sao Paulo and I think that if the offer of hostel could improve, this would help to raise this kind of tourism too. So one thing you do when you plan a trip with your backpack is to visit the worldwide famous site hostelworld and look for a place to stay. Despite the number of hostels in Sao Paulo is quite few — especially compared to other Brazilian cities —, there is one that is really special. The customers of this site, in fact, elected the Vila Madalena Hostel as the best in Brazil in 2009!

So it really is a good choice if you wanna spend some days in 'Sampa' or you wanna invite some friends but you don't have space at home. This hostel has a creative atmosphere because it hosts exhibition of young artists and designers. They offer both private and shared room, so it is good even if you are a couple and the best thing is the position. It is located 2 blocks from Benedito Calixto Market, it is few minutes walking from shops, cool bars and metro station and you can also rent a bike to discover the city!
