Creative video-advertisement campaign in Sao Paulo puts a smile on your face

Sao Paulo is very famous for its transit issues. Thousand of cars cause dozens of kilometers of traffic jam every single day in town. Most of the drivers listen radio for hours, while they are stuck on the streets.

This video-advertisement [Portuguese] was published by a Brazilian company called Brastemp in São Paulo. They transmitted the same message on 11 different radio stations at the same time, asking for people to smile for the driver of the car on their side. It quickly became a contagious trend and everybody started to smiling to everyone. That was an admirable and creative way of input something good into the tough routine of many Paulistanos. Congratulations!

Have a look at the Sao Paulo Subway project until 2020

I found this study at the Terra website and I think it's very interesting for the insidesaopaulo audience. The São Paulo Metropolitan Railroad Network is expanding. Currently it is responsible for the transport of 7.2 million passengers every single day. Modern projects are currently developing the existing 335km network. The network is receiving the largest volume of investments in its history: at least R$ 45 billion will be invested in projects already defined.

In 2017, four new lines should be in operation in the "Paulista" Capital. Currently, four stations are under construction (4-Yellow, 5-Purple, 15-Silver and 17-Gold). The Secretary of Metropolitan Transport is also working on improvements to operation stations and optimization of existing routes. Check out how the current map and see the projections for 2020:

If you want to see the development of this project year to year, visit the Terra website and see for yourself. It is easy to understand.

São Paulo just beat its record of traffic congestion: 735 km

People leaving the city. It looks like everyone had the same idea...

São Paulo surpasses 700 km of slowness for the first time. There is a radio station in Sao Paulo, which organizes an index (Radio SulAmérica Transit / Maplink). The traffic reached 735km at 6 pm today.

The reason is the "Dia das Crianças" (Children's Day), a federal public holiday. Sao Paulo is the biggest city in South America and Southern hemisphere.

Starting on next Saturday, February 4th, passengers boarding with bicycles will be allowed to leave the platform using escalators.

Tomorrow (Thursday, 9/15), Luz and Republica metro stations will be finally connected to the 4-Yellow Line

The 4-Yellow Line brings information in English. Not every metro line offers this option
At the very beginning, these two brand-new stations will operate from 10 am to 3 pm, Monday to Saturday, including holidays. The Metro Department estimates that around 100 thousand passengers daily will be accessing the República station, and 132 thousand passengers will pass through the Luz station.

Now the next challenge of the Yellow Line is the construction of a tunnel 1 km long, connecting to the Vila Sonia station in the west region (under construction). Beyond that, there are also the project-ending of the installation of operating systems at the stations: São Paulo-Morumbi, Fradique Coutinho, Oscar Freire and Higienópolis-Mackenzie.

Flying above a concrete jungle, by Isabel Campos

Isabel flying above Copam building
My name is Isabel Campos, I am a journalist working in São Paulo and, as part of my job, I fly every day above an estimated fleet of 7 million cars. From the top I can see a city that does not stop growing. On one side the luxury real estate boom, on the other the arid suburbs.
It is a privilege to see Sao Paulo from the top of an helicopter.
Sao Paulo thrills me when I overflight places like Avenida Paulista, the Sé Cathedral, the Copan building, Teatro Municipal or  the beautiful São Paulo Golf Club on the south area of São Paulo. The Reservoir of Guarapiranga and also Billings Reservoir are real oasis located at the southern limit of the city, near the coast.

Flying by night is also incredible. You can see the light show and the size is breathtaking! Sao Paulo from the top of an helicopter is a privilege. Every morning I have the privilege of flying over the city I love.
