Fernando Jaeger Exhibition

Le Buteque
Contemporary products, functional and industrially produced for fair prices. It seems great, but do you think it is possible? The answer is yes if you are thinking about Fernando Jaeger, who follows that philosophy as the motto of his work. The designer features clean objects carved in wood - from different sources for reforestation - Jaeger is the one that puts the hands on to create his pieces. These objects will be gathered on the presentation entitled Cor, Materialidade e Sustentabilidade (Color, Materiality and Sustainability), at Muba. Among the winners you can find Poltrona Theo e Poltrona Trama. Check it out!

The Yellow Metro Line is now working till 9 pm

Today the Yellow Metro Line of São Paulo started a new working time. From now on, the subway is running until 9 pm.

Until now, the Yellow Line operated only from 4h40 am to 3 pm, from Monday to Friday, because the trains were still going through testing.

This is the second change on the Yellow Line this month. On June 3, it became possible to make the transfer between the Yellow line at the the stations Pinheiro and Line 9-Emerald (Osasco-Grajaú) of the CPTM (Paulista Metropolitan Trains Company).

According to the companies, the integration receives around 100 thousand people daily. From now on, more passengers will be served.

The free transfer between the two stations in Pinheiros is via a walkway on the Marginal Pinheiros length of 56.5 meters, a height of 6.65 meters. The walkway is covered and enclosed on the sides.

The Pinheiros station, which was opened in May, was the fourth station of the 4-Yellow Line to be opened. In March, was the inauguration of the station Butantã. The stations Faria Lima and Sao Paulo are on duty since May 2010. It is expected that the line will have 11 stops, over almost 13 km, connecting the stations Luz and Vila Sonia.

Sustainable Food Festival in São Paulo

Starting on June 21, some the best restaurants in Sao Paulo will be challenged to reduce their impact on the environment. This is the "Festival Gastronomia Sustentável" (Sustainable Food Festival). It will last six months and will involve some of the best restaurants in town, including Fasano, Rubaiyat, D.O.M, Carlota, Rascal and Bela Sintra.

During this period, the cooking oil will be collected and turned into biodiesel, the only way to ensure that it does not pollute the environment. Seedlings will be planted in special locations indicated by the Secretary of Environment of São Paulo in order to offset carbon emissions.

Goals will also be adopted to reduce water consumption. Some chefs are preparing special recipes for the festival. The new meals were developed with the concept of saving water and oil. The participating restaurants will display posters and leaflets with tips on the initiative to collaborate with the customer to reduce the impact on the environment.

The 15th Annual Sao Paulo Gay Pride Parade - 2011. The biggest in the world

Scheduled for June 26th, the Gay Pride Parade celebrates its 15th year under the theme "Love each other, end homophobia" ("Amai-vos uns aos outros: basta de homofobia"). The festival starts at noon, and up to 3 million participants are expected.

According to the organizers, the event includes a Cycle of Lectures, a Cultural Fair, a Citizenship Award for Respect of Diversity, and Gay Day. This year, the Association of the LGBT Pride Parade in São Paulo (Associação da Parada do Orgulho GLBT de São Paulo) wants to promote a discussion about the prejudice of religious groups against homosexuals — which helped to inspire this year's theme.

On Sunday at 1:30 pm, there will also be a debutante ball. About 3 million people are expected on the Avenida Paulista, in the Pride Parade 2011. The organization is preparing a waltz in the center of the city. The participants will have to dance the Blue Danube with whoever is next to him/her when the music plays. All 17 electric floats will play a remixed version of the traditional waltz, created by DJ Ana John.

The video above, of one minute and 20 seconds, the characters are played by the actors Rodrigo Ricardo and Ramory Feldman.

Recorded at the intersection of Avenida Paulista and Rua Augusta, the short film shows the two actors meeting in the middle of the crosswalk and waltzing solemnly.

The producers, supported by SPTuris, are hoping to enter the Guinness Record Book with the largest number of couples waltzing in public. The current record is from 2010, with 1,510 couples in Bosnia.

Praca Charles Miller is the meeting point for devotees of Remote Control

Every Monday and Tuesday noon at Praça Charles Miller, in front of the Pacaembu Stadium, people meet up to enjoy their Remote Control devices. It's an interesting place to meet people practicing and developing skills of controlling.

Over there is possible to find cars, airplanes, helicopters and even jets. Most of them uses battery, but there still devices using fuel. Most of the people is passionate for it and are very kind. Cristiano, owner of the Helicopter of the video above was explaining everything we wanted to know regarding batteries, remote controls and comments about this meeting point. According to him, most people who frequent that place, are families and remote control lovers. They spend sometime doing what they love most, meeting people to share that moment and update their knowledge. The place is great for children and is apparently very safe.

As long as get late (or cold if during the winter), the remote controls switch places with young people who meet up there to have some drink, what is about 10 pm. During the summer, it lasts longer.
