Sustainable Food Festival in São Paulo

Starting on June 21, some the best restaurants in Sao Paulo will be challenged to reduce their impact on the environment. This is the "Festival Gastronomia Sustentável" (Sustainable Food Festival). It will last six months and will involve some of the best restaurants in town, including Fasano, Rubaiyat, D.O.M, Carlota, Rascal and Bela Sintra.

During this period, the cooking oil will be collected and turned into biodiesel, the only way to ensure that it does not pollute the environment. Seedlings will be planted in special locations indicated by the Secretary of Environment of São Paulo in order to offset carbon emissions.

Goals will also be adopted to reduce water consumption. Some chefs are preparing special recipes for the festival. The new meals were developed with the concept of saving water and oil. The participating restaurants will display posters and leaflets with tips on the initiative to collaborate with the customer to reduce the impact on the environment.
