The Morumbi Stadium is a strong candidate to host an UFC event on June 2012

Morumbi Stadium
The UFC president, Dana White is in Sao Paulo to select fighters for "The Ultimate Fighter", reality show to be held in Sao Paulo. At the same time, his team is visiting the Morumbi Stadium, where probably in June 2012, the event "Finale" will be held, where will be the final fight between the competitors of the program and also a fight between Wanderlei Silva and Vitor Belfort.

The choice of Morumbi is not certain yet because it's an open stadium and the weather can be a problem. According to Dana White, fights outdoors represent a risk. The fighters need an appropriate environment.

Nevertheless, Lorenzo Fertitta, UFC socio-majority, plans to adapt the Morumbi stadium for the event. The idea is to cover the octagon to receive between 70 and 80 thousand people. According to Fertitta, the cold weather in Sao Paulo during this period will not be a problem. It will be possible to sell 68 thousand tickets to the grandstand and at least 16 thousand to the ground.

Roberto Natel representing the stadium, accompanied the UFC delegation's during the visit and is confident that the contract will be done.

Two art exhibitions are happening at the same time inside an art gallery. It worth a visit!

If you are in São Paulo and want to organize a tour to spend some time visiting galleries and art exhibitions, here is an advice where you can kill two birds with one stone. At the Art Gallery Mendes Wood you can find two exhibitions: Four Walls of the Spanish artist (who lives in Brazil since 2004), Daniel Steegmann Mangrané; and Don Dudley, organized by Simon Watson, (living and NY and SP).

Four Walls is based on various sources and the effect is strangely fascinating. The exhibition presents four pieces that explore the semiotic structure of the projection.

Don Dudley was born in Los Angeles, California in 1930 and exhibited widely in the United States and Europe in the first part of his career. For the exhibition, Simon Watson selected paintings in modular panels of monochrome aluminum and watercolors, from 1966 to 1974.

The first Insidesaopaulo Experience was a great event! Check it out!

I would like to say thank you to everyone who had the chance to go to first meeting organized by the blog at the restaurant Estação SP, last Saturday 26th.

About 15 people got together last Saturday bringing their stories and reasons why they are currently living in São Paulo. There were people from England, Australia, Egypt, Spain, Finland, Canada and Brazil, of course...

Everyone had a different story to tell about their life experiences, where they came from and expectations about the brand new life. However, amoung all the reasons there is something in common. Most of them are here for love. At least three couples (composed by a male foreigner and a Brazilian woman) decided to live in São Paulo (and have recently arrived here) to get in contact with the current developing economy and also with this intriguing Brazilian culture of their wives.

It was a great event and we hope to organize plenty more. Keep reading insidesaopaulo to find out what comes next.

Thank you guys for coming to the event and thank you Tiago, for letting us invade your restaurant.

Vai-Vai Samba School. Come to visit it!

Located in the Bexiga neighborhood, this Samba School is one of the largest organizations of the Brazilian Carnival and has won more than 10 titles in the São Paulo Carnival competitions. Vai-Vai was the winner of the Sao Paulo Carnival 2011 through the theme "A Música Venceu!", in honor to the maestro João Carlos Martins.

The members of the Escola de Samba Vai-Vai first started participating in Carnival in 1914. However, Vai-Vai didn't become recognized as an official samba school until 1972. The name was inspired by the Cai-Cai soccer team, which formed a carnival group affectionately known as Vae Vae because the group would show up uninvited to the "rodas de samba" and be sent away with a cheery "Vai-Vai" (Go-Go).

The school's official colors are black and white and has approximately 3,000 members. Rehearsals, which start in the second half of each year, are really exciting.

Museu Aberto de Arte Urbana - Open Air Museum of Urban Art

What started as graffiti on the subway pillars, in the north area of the city, becomes now the Open Air Museum of Urban Art.

The pioneering project covers the section between metro stations Santana, Carandiru and Tietê-Portuguesa with 68 urban murals painted by artists of different generations. "We are trying to invite some of the leading names of graffiti that have historically been linked to that place, but also the younger to give them the opportunity to paint with the most experienced," says Binho Ribeiro, the museum curator.

The initiative - which came after a group of graffiti artists was arrested by coloring the pillars without authorization - now has the support of agencies linked to the Municipality and to the State Government, besides the Metro and the Choque Cultural Gallery (which will lead  an educational programme about urban art in the public schools of the region).

A fashion store of São Paulo has just started a project hoping to transform Rua Augusta ("Agusta Street") into an open-air art gallery for two months. But in order to do this, they need to raise money. You can help!

The idea is to make the busiest street of the city into an art gallery, displaying huge illustrations from several artists on the building walls of Rua Augusta, between December 2011 and February 2012.

How it works
For the project to start, project organizers need to collect R$ 30,000. The tool they're using to raise money is a crowdfunding format website called movere.me. Donors can offer amounts ranging between R$ 10 and R$ 3000.

Each donation entitles you to receive an exclusive gift* that depends on the money you provided. For example, by donating R$10, you will receive a key chain in exchange. Once R$ 30,000 has been reached, 3 works out art will be displayed out on the walls of three buildings with which the organizers already have developed an agreement. In the case more extra donations, other buildings have discussed their participation in the exhibition.

If the minimum amount was not collected, the money will be returned to you, and you won't get the gift.

The origin
The brand El Cabriton opened a shop in Rua Augusta two years ago and since then, different artists have been invited to illustrate the outer wall of the store in their own styles.

If you want to visit the shop and find out more about the project, there is an exhibition scheduled for October 7th, called Projeto 54, where 54 artistis are responsible to create an illustration one card of a pack. The exhibition is open and starts at 8 pm.
