New bike lane connects 3 Parks inside Sao Paulo

Sao Paulo has opened on August 30th the first bike lane of leisure. With 5 km long, linking: Parque da Bicicleta, Parque do Ibirapuera e Parque do Povo on the south region.

The bicycle lane is painted in red and the path has vertical signs and banners for education and guidance for drivers.

The lanes leisure work only on Sundays, from 7am to 12pm and is an experimental project of the Municipal Council.

The secretary of Sports aims to create over than 22 kilometers of lanes in the city in nine areas of leisure. However, it can be much higher. Some sub-prefects interested on this project, offered new areas for the lanes to reach their regions. The locations are not confirmed. Among the regions that could gain a lane is the Center. According to the department, 700 thousand people use bicycles on weekends, and 4 million not do so for lack of adequate space.
